What’s the scoop on juicing verses blending, you ask? Both blending and juicing are fabulous ways to pack in your nutrients, but each has different effects on the body. here’s the skinny on both!

JUICING is a process which extracts the juice, water and nutrients from vegetables and fruits while discarding the indigestible fiber. When the fiber is discarded, your body doesn’t have to work as hard to break down the produce and absorb the nutrients. Fiber can slow down the digestive process. Juicing is a great way to get a large amount of vegetables into your body at one time which is awesome, but be careful. You don’t want to over juice with fruits. Fruit contains a lot of sugar and can cause a big spike in your blood sugar. No bueno. The greener, the better. Juicing restores your body at a cellular level!

BLENDING is the process of combining the whole fruits and vegetables, skin and all which means the fiber is included. Blending breaks the fiber apart which is a little easier to digest, but is a slower to move through the body than juicing. Blending is a great way to get fruits and veggies into your system along with other super foods like flax, hemp, nuts and protein powders. Blending a smoothie is a healthy meal replacement or pick me up after a workout and is quite filling!

Fresh juicing and blending each have a place in your diet and the assorted options and flavor combinations are endless. Try it! You’ll never go back to store bought juice and smoothies again!
